Panel ten był niegdyś częścią ołtarza zdobiącego ołtarz główny klasztoru kartuzów w Thuison, niedaleko Abbeville w północnej Francji. Na zewnętrznej stronie skrzydeł ołtarza namalowano czterech świętych stojących w niszach. Kiedy skrzydła były otwarte, wnętrze ołtarza opowiadało historię męki i zmartwychwstania Chrystusa poprzez malowane narracje po wewnętrznej stronie skrzydeł oraz malowane i złocone rzeźby w centralnej świątyni, których centralnym tematem było niewątpliwie Ukrzyżowanie. Rzeźby nie zachowały się. Przód i tył skrzydeł rozcięto w połowie XIX w.; wszystkie panele skrzydłowe z wyjątkiem jednej narracji (Wejście do Jerozolimy, Ermitaż, Sankt Petersburg) znajdują się w Instytucie Sztuki.
